Dinosaurs are coming to the Jurassic Coast in what promises to be one of the biggest attractions in the area with the opening of Jurassic Discovery in Seaton. This summer, the centre will unveil an immersive dinosaur exhibition featuring state-of-the-art animatronic models from London’s Natural History Museum. Trams, trains and automobiles

Wacky Racers

If it’s fast cars you want, then spend a day at Wiscombe Park, venue for the annual summer-long Hillclimb. The event gives drivers of two, three and four-wheeled vehicles the chance to compete against the clock to be quickest to the top of a 1000-yard course. For more cerebral pleasures, don’t miss the wonderful Seaton and District Annual Art Exhibition, which is being held at The Marshlands Centre, in Harbour Road, Seaton, from August 10-18. Medieval fun

The annual Colyford Goose Fayre is a celebration of traditional countryside entertainments, including falconry, archery, Morris dancing, and of course a mock auction of geese! With participants dressed in authentic medieval garb, this is a highlight of the local social calendar. Date still to be confirmed, but likely to be 28 September. Carnival time

Finally, the biggest event in Colyton the annual town carnival is a great way to see out the summer. Part of the West Country Carnival Season, this year it will be held on September 14. The event features brightly coloured floats and dancers, as well as a carnival market which attracts hundreds of bargain hunters.
