Take the train for first class fun!

Calling all model railway enthusiasts! One of the UK’s best miniature steam railways should be the first stop on the timetable for any visitor staying at The Old Bakehouse.

Book a ticket to ride at the amazing Pecorama, in nearby picturesque fishing village Beer, and you can enjoy travelling along the 7.25-inch gauge steam railway as it winds its way along a one-mile circuit high above the Jurassic Coastline.

The visitor attraction, set in stunning gardens, is the ideal place for families as well as keen train enthusiasts. After you’ve ridden the steam train, there’s also the chance to explore an interactive model railway exhibition. All the model layouts are manufactured in the UK by PECO, with many themed to fit different rooms in a typical home. Each set varies in size and scale, with amazing attention to detail.

Pecorama opened for the season in March and runs until November 2. It has also launched a number of themed events for visitors, including craft and kit building days as well as Loco Week from August 20-25, which features guest locomotives and shunting displays.

Later in the year, there’s a chance to explore a Halloween trail around the gardens. You can find out more details and opening times at Pecorama.co.uk

The Old Bakehouse, in historic Colyton, East Devon, is the perfect base for exploring all things rail focused! We’re just a ten minute drive from Pecorama as well as a seven-minute walk from the station for the fantastic Seaton Tramway.
