Get Ready to Ride The Polar Express

Every December the peaceful Axe Valley in East Devon is transformed into something straight from a storybook. The heritage trams of the Seaton Tramway are decked out in twinkling lights, festive decorations, and the magic of Christmas as they become THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Tram Ride.

If you’re looking for a heart-warming, family-friendly experience in the run-up to Christmas, this is one of the region’s must-do events, running on selected dates right up to Christmas Eve. The trams run to and from Seaton Tram Station and Colyton Station, which is just a few minutes walk from The Old Bakehouse.

Travellers enjoy hot chocolate and cookies as they ride towards the “North Pole,” served by elves to create a nostalgic touch that’s especially magical for children. On arrival at your destination, you step off the tram at a festive platform where you meet Santa himself. Every guest - child or adult - receives a “first gift of Christmas” — a silver sleigh bell.

On the return journey, the whole tram joins together to sing Christmas carols. The ride blends heritage, theatre and festive spirit into an immersive holiday experience.
