Access

We would like to make The Old Bakehouse and Cottage an enjoyable and comfortable place to visit for as many people as possible, regardless of individual needs. The following information on our facilities should help you book with confidence but please feel free to ask us any questions.

location

The Old Bakehouse and Cottage are set centrally in Colyton, East Devon, within a few minutes of all the main town amenities.

Pre-arrival

Both properties are unsuitable for guests with walking difficulties, although The Old Bakehouse does contain some handrails on stairs and in bathrooms. The Cottage does not have these.

Wi-fi in both properties is very good but the mobile phone signal is variable, depending on network.

Transport

For those with electric cars, the town now has two EV chargers at Dolphin Street car park, about 100 metres from The Old Bakehouse and Cottage. The units can rapid charge up to four vehicles at once.

There is public transport nearby: bus stop in the towns centre, good taxi services and trams to the nearby coastal town of Seaton (less than three miles away)

Visitors arriving from London and the South or Exeter can travel on South Western Railways to nearby Axminster (5 miles away).

Road access from the north is initially via the M5, and from London via the A303.

Arrival and car parking

For visitors to The Old Bakehouse, on-street parking is sometimes available outside the Old Bakehouse. On street parking is also available in Govers Meadow (or Dolphin Street car park in the town centre about 100 metres away). Those who use The Cottage will have access to parking for one car in the gated gravel courtyard.
